Is medical data difficult to share? Trias breaks the isolated data island

For a long time, the exchange of information between hospitals has been very unobstructed, each hospital is like an isolated island of information, maintaining each other’s blockade. If the data cooperation system, case sharing and diagnosis scheme can be established among hospitals, the medical level and diagnosis efficiency will be greatly improved.

The main reason for poor medical information is that prescriptions and cases are fundamental to hospitals, and no one is willing to give their core to their peers easily. As we all know, the famous Concord Hospital has three advantages as Cases, Professors and Libraries. The first one is the case, and its importance is evident.

Previously, due to the lack of case-related knowledge, the case is completely in the hands of the hospital, patients themselves know nothing about their own situation.

On the one hand, hospitals regard cases and other data as precious. On the other hand, for the central agency internal personnel trafficking data or encounter external attacks, medical information leakage incidents occur from time to time.

For example, the information system of Anthem, America’s second-largest health insurance provider, was hacked, leaking more than 78 million customers’ information. PremeraBlueCross, an American health insurer, suffered a cyber-attack, which resulted in the theft of more than 11 million customer information.

As we mentioned above, medical data is valuable and easy to lose and cannot be used by users. The blockchain is known for its security of decentralization. Bitcoin, for example, has risen by more than $100 billion since its birth. Although countless hackers around the world have never stopped trying to attack the Bitcoin, so far no one has succeeded.

So what changes can blockchain bring to these pain points of medical data?

Regarding the possibility of blockchain and medical data, there are some views that medical data should be placed on the blockchain in order to ensure the security of user information. In short, the idea is to use the blockchain directly as a database. But then there is a view that the blockchain database is inefficient and unworthy of use. In this regard, Trias founder & CEO Ruan Anbang has his unique insight.

Ruan Anbang does not agree with the idea of building blockchain databases. In his view, data security is classified into confidentiality, integrity and availability. In order to prevent data from being tampered with, the blockchain delivers all data to all nodes for joint preservation. Therefore, Ruan Anbang said that the most important function of blockchain is to ensure data integrity.

However, blockchain protects data integrity by sacrificing data confidentiality. Distributed ledger technology will cause data to be distributed to everyone, which is against data confidentiality. Therefore, Ruan Anbang believes that placing raw data directly on the blockchain is not the true value of blockchain technology.

The real role of blockchain is to record all the usage process of data. To put it simply, we use the blockchain to do a bookkeeping of data usage. In this way, any program extracting data at any time will be recorded on the blockchain truthfully.

In this regard, Ruan Anbang proposed a concept called Data Mine. He believes that every hospital can become such a data mine. In this environment, the data will not be leaked, and people can only dig the value of the data in the mine through other programs and those data mining procedures will be local bookkeeping. Through this bookkeeping, users can get certain token benefit by contributing data.

The benefits are obvious. On the one hand, users benefit from contributing data, which is the effective incentive for users. On the other hand, we can accurately know that each data is used by the program, and the program’s behavior is recorded on the blockchain. Once a program violating the data, its behavior will also be verified, which will greatly reduce the abuse of data.

There is no need to worry about security problems caused by external attacks. We know that there is no absolute security in the world, any encrypted data, as long as there is enough time and calculation, can always be cracked. But the cost is too high, no one will do so. Blockchain can make hackers pay much more for intrusion than they earn, which will effectively prevent hackers from intruding.

Ruan Anbang said that with the popularity of the Internet, we enjoy the convenience of intelligent equipment and information services, at the same time, to solve the problem of data rights has become imminent. For data owners, fear of data abuse and loss of exclusivity makes them reluctant to share their data entirely, eventually forming isolated data islands.

The birth of Trias provides a new way to solve the data island problem. Trias doesn’t need to break these data islands, it does build highways to connect them.

The Trias team is also actively negotiating with potential partners on how to apply Trias solutions to data sharing and authentic right of data in medical products. It is expected that the scheme will one day land in a medical setting, which will be a huge market.
