TL;DR

Blockchain is one of the most important supporting technologies of the metaverse, including smart contracts, NFT, distributed storage, DAO system, etc. At present, the transformation of asset ownership from developers to individuals has been realized by NFT technology, while the change of project governance will be pushed forward by DAO. DAO is an organization allowing users to collaborate and governance in a more extensive way in the metaverse. This article introduces the mechanism of the Ethanim Reliable State Machine (RSM) and explains how the DAO has become the cornerstone of the metaverse organization.

Ethanim is a new generation of metaverse infrastructure, which modularizes edge computing, virtual GPU, decentralized storage and other technologies, and combines them with blockchain pluggable to form a comprehensive metaverse solution, enabling the system to expand infinitely and stay eternal.

In addition to technical improvement, Ethanim also provides a fair, transparent and safe mechanism for anyone to freely participate in and govern the metaverse, which is Ethanim’s reliable state machine technology.

Ethanim’s Reliable State Machine (RSM) is a fully open-source container engine that comes with trusted verification. It is like a transparent box in which the back end of an application is deployed and sealed. Anyone can observe the health of the application in the transparent box, and if someone wants to tamper with it, they can only break the seal, while others can easily observe and verify the integrity of the seal to determine the security and reliability of the application.

Through RSMs, the metaverse applications will no longer exclusively belong to project owners but be shared by community members, and fair governance of applications will be realized in the form of DAOs. Every DAO user can check the development of the application in RSM, and determine the development path of the application by voting. After the application is shut down, it can also be restored through RSM, and the DAO can maintain the operation of the application, thus the eternity of the application is achieved.

There are two core functions in RSM:

The first one is to make the application safe, reliable and observable when it is running. Anyone can check the running status of any RSM on the blockchain browser. Once an application is tampered with, a warning will be displayed on the blockchain browser and everyone will know it.

The second function is to resume the application after it is shut down. RSM will save the image file of an application after it is deployed and will continue to save the application state and data snapshot during the operation. Meanwhile, it will store the image file and state data snapshot in the decentralized file system, and store the hash index on the main chain. If the application is shut down, anyone can use RSM to trace the application back to any previous version by downloading images and snapshot files from the decentralized file system via hash indexes stored.

Therefore, for DAO members in the Ethanim ecosystem, RSM can:

1. Continuously monitor the operation status of the application, and publicize the logs of the monitored information to the DAO members, so that the DAO has the right to know about the operation of the game.

2. Give the DAO full ownership of the application. RSM can authorize application upgrades and deployment based on the permission rules set by DAO. For example, if there is a proposal about changing the rules of the game, RSM will automatically grant the developer permission to upgrade the application only if the proposal is approved, or if the developer closes the application, RSM will release the permission to redeploy the application to the “heir inline” specified in the DAO.

3. DAO shall control the purse strings of the project. Each project will have an account to receive the RSM operating expenses through the DAO, and the DAO members will be able to ensure the RSM operation by funding the corresponding project. In this way, the project gets the operation and maintenance funds, the user gets the project governance token and the relevant rights.
